Snowbird,
Hardly anyone remembers, even in France, that République centrafricaine was, under french rule, Oubangui Chari. It was part of a regional administrative structure called Afrique équatoriale française, comprising Gabon, French Congo (Brazzaville), Oubangui Chari and Chad, which we'll agree is hardly equatorial. On the other side was Afrique occidentale française with Côte d'Ivoire, haute Volta, Mali (called French Sudan at the time), and a few others.
The cherry is for you, together with the cake.
